#WeWriWa: Created by crazy in JAGER #GalacticDefenders #scifi #romance #scifirom

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Okay, this really is the last snippet from JAGER, the second book of my sci-fi adventure romance series, Galactic Defenders. I hope you have enjoyed them all. There are more Galactic Defenders coming, including GIB AND THE TIBBAR, which will be part of the upcoming Pets in Space 2 anthology: Embrace the Romance. Also, Jace will get his own story soon. And I have plans for Scrym, Pollux, Naf, Oflaria, and many more.

Set-up: Last week Jager learned that Jace and Katrina weren’t romantically involved. Well, that left Katrina available, and while locked up and naked, two consenting adults who already shared an attraction to each other became physically intimate. Well, their captor arrived to ruin the afterglow, removing Jager from the cell and shoving in a new cell mate for Katrina. I’m introducing this character, because she is important in JACE. (edited to fit)

Katrina eyed the sleeping green heap on the floor. As much as she wanted to kick the girl, smash her head in until she was dead, she couldn’t. Faith hadn’t asked to be created, hadn’t chosen to be a cross between the most vile creature in the universe and Katrina’s own ancestors. No, Katrina’s anger was with the woman who had created the girl, produced other Erebus-like creatures, then let them loose on the world.

Could the girl be related, though? If the crazy woman had fused Katrina’s DNA with that of an Erebus, Faith was some type of clone. Her sister from the crazy bitch.

How could she look so normal, yet like the enemy at the same time? The girl didn’t have completely red eyes ready to burn a hole through her, or any poison dripping from her mouth, had no body hair, only the fuzzy leaves on the top of her head. She could easily pass as just another race if brought to the attention of the Alliance, but not on Earth; she didn’t belong on this planet.

JAGER: Galactic Defenders Book Two

Jager’s new squad of Defenders has completed training, but the spoiled princess who has grated on his nerves since her first day of training is called back to Hemera for a yearly celebration. When Princess Katrina doesn’t show up, Jager must drag her home, where he wishes she would stay.

Katrina is a Defender, not a Princess. And there is no way she wants to return to a planet she hates for some stupid ceremony. Not when she could be out killing Erebus with her squad.

But when a new enemy threatens both their lives, they must work together to survive.

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Here’s another snippet from JAGER, the second book of my sci-fi adventure romance series, Galactic Defenders.

Set-up: Last week Katrina was tortured in the dark, and Jager felt horrible for allowing it to happen. He ended up trying to help her, but got hurt in the process. Stuck in the cell together, they’ve grown closer, come to an understanding at least. And they’re talking… (edited to fit)

“Hopefully, your boyfriend and his squad can come to our rescue.”

She shoved his shoulder. “What boyfriend?”

Jager rolled his eyes. She couldn’t deny what everyone knew. “Jace. You two spend every spare moment together, and we all know what you’re doing when you sneak off to one of your rooms.

As she laughed, her hands bounced up and down on her tight stomach. “Jace; is that really what everyone thinks? Cosmos, no, we’re nothing more than friends.”

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Here’s another snippet from JAGER, the second book of my sci-fi adventure romance series, Galactic Defenders.

Set-up: Last week Jager reprimanded Katrina for going off on her own. He’s still mad at her, and they’re sitting in opposite corners of their cage. Then this happens… (edited to fit)

Her nostrils flared and a tear slid down her cheek.

Then the lights went out—total darkness—he couldn’t see a thing.

Maybe it was better that way; she couldn’t make him feel guilty with her tears or turn her glare on him. Some time in the dark would do them both good, give her a moment to contemplate his words as he had hers. When they got out, somehow, they’d finally work as a team.

A scream pierced his eardrums. “Katrina?” Cosmos, so much for working as a team. He should have been by her side instead of at the opposite end of their cell; whatever happened to her, it was his fault. He crawled forward, dreading what he’d find when he reached her.

#WeWriWa: There’s no “I” in TEAM in JAGER #GalacticDefenders #scifi #romance #sfr

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

I said last week was the last snippet from JAGER, but I decided to give you a bit more. After all, the hero and heroine aren’t together yet. And there’s one more character I want to introduce you to. So, please bear with me for four more weekends.

Set-up: Last week Katrina came face-to-face with her captor again, and learned that Jager had been caught, too. Now, let’s find out what happens when Jager and Katrina meet again. The first line is Jager’s, and the snippet has been edited to fit.

“We work as a team so this doesn’t happen, so we have each other’s back and don’t end up trapped somewhere without any way to communicate with the rest of our team.”

“You know that doesn’t always happen.” Her stare was almost as deadly as plazer fire. “Look what happened to you on Hoggins, and what happened to Bryce on Niesgoo. No matter how much you plan, how much you depend on your squad, it doesn’t always result in a perfect mission.”

Rage boiled inside him. What would it take to get her to understand? “No, not always, but if something happens, you have your squad with you, more minds to come up with a plan to get out of the situation. Here, it’s just the two of us, with no way out, and some Terran woman now has access to our communication system and our weapons. She took us out one at a time, not together, and this wouldn’t have been possible if you’d worked with your squad.”
